South African sides light up URC as Bok stars deliver perfect home weekend
Springbok fans were treated to a blockbuster round of Vodacom URC action as all four South African franchises powered to bonus-point wins on home soil - and did it in style.

The emphatic win over the 2022/23 URC champions was spearheaded by 19-year-old fullback Giliomee, who scored a try, created two others and delivered a composed all-round display on debut, while Mapimpi marked his 100th appearance with a late double to seal the result.
Sharks coach JP Pietersen was quick to celebrate the impact of both players, particularly the youngster's fearless introduction to top-flight rugby.
"Gilly is a special kid, man," said Pietersen. "You can see he's got BMT. He just belongs on that field and he never looked out of place."
Giliomee's influence extended beyond his try-scoring exploits, with a crucial 50:22 helping set up loosehead prop Phatu Ganyane for another score as the Sharks controlled territory and tempo throughout.
"We want to give young guys opportunities in games that matter," Pietersen added. "Today was a pressure game and you could see how he stood up."
While Giliomee announced himself on the big stage, Mapimpi ensured a fitting milestone celebration with two late tries to complete the rout.
Captain André Esterhuizen paid tribute to the winger's achievement, describing the occasion as richly deserved.
"He could not have asked for a more special result, and two great tries, in the milestone match," Esterhuizen said. "He's a special human being."
Esterhuizen also highlighted Mapimpi's enduring quality, adding: "At his age, to still have that speed and professionalism - there's a lot of rugby left in him."
With five matches remaining, Esterhuizen stressed the need for consistency as the Sharks push for a playoff place, while Pietersen praised the collective effort up front and the continued emergence of young talent such as Phatu Ganyane.
In a night defined by youth and experience, Giliomee's breakthrough and Mapimpi's milestone provided the headline moments in a performance that underlined the Sharks' growing belief and balance.
