South African sides light up URC as Bok stars deliver perfect home weekend

The DHL Stormers, Vodacom Bulls and Lions all held their spots inside the top eight, while the Sharks kept their playoff hopes alive, making it a dream weekend for local supporters as the business end of the season looms.

It all kicked off in Pretoria, where the Bulls shook off an early scare to absolutely steamroll Cardiff 40-7. After conceding inside three minutes, the men in blue flipped the switch and ran riot - five first-half tries blowing the game wide open. Bok stars like Kurt-Lee Arendse pulled the strings as the Bulls sent a clear message: they're peaking at the right time.

Ellis Park kept the energy going on Saturday as the Lions turned on the style in a wild 54-17 demolition of Edinburgh. Despite seeing less of the ball, they were ruthless - eight tries, relentless tempo, and a statement performance. Morne van den Berg marked his 100th game in the best way possible, while the backline cut loose in front of a buzzing Joburg crowd.

Down in Durban, it was pure domination. The Sharks didn't just beat Munster - they shut them out completely in a crushing 45-0 win. The pack laid the platform with a brutal scrum display, and the backs cashed in. Makazole Mapimpi celebrated his 100th cap with a late brace, putting the cherry on top of one of the Sharks' most complete performances of the season.

Then Cape Town closed things out, with the Stormers digging deep to see off a fired-up Dragons side 29-21. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu ran the show early with a quickfire double, and although the visitors kept fighting, the Stormers had just enough class - and composure - to lock down the bonus point and keep their push for a home playoff alive.

Four teams, four wins, four bonus points - and a clear message: the South African sides are hitting form when it matters most.
