Beyond Naturena: Khulumani Ndamane explains his journey of growth at TS Galaxy

The 21-year-old centre-back came up through the Amakhosi youth and reserve sides but left before making a senior appearance.

Having seen his road to the first team blocked, the ambitious Ndamane took the decision to join the Rockets.

In his debut season, Ndamane made 27 appearances as the Betway Premiership club ended their season in an impressive fifth place.

His form also saw him earn a call up for Bafana Bafana, and he has since featured three times for South Africa, in two World Cup qualifiers and a friendly international.

Reflecting on his Chiefs exit, Ndamane explained that not every player is able to forge a path with the Soweto giants.

He told iDiski Times: "It was not painful. There are a lot of players in this game and if you don't get a chance, you must accept it. Football doesn't always take you where you want to go.

"At teams like Chiefs, expectations are huge. As a youngster, you still make mistakes and sometimes the pressure can be too much."

Ndamane explained that he was given the chance to grow and develop at Galaxy.

“But here at Galaxy, they allow you to make mistakes and learn. That has helped me grow – not just as a player, but mentally too,” he said.

"I saw that things were not happening the way I wished, so I decided to come to TS Galaxy. And fortunately, when I arrived here, things went my way."
