Brentford sign former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on free transfer

The 35-year-old joins the Premier League side on a two-year deal after terminating his contract with Ajax recently.

Henderson brings with him a wealth of experience, having made over 350 Premier League appearances and earned 84 England caps.

He also captained Liverpool during one of the club's most successful modern eras, lifting both the Premier League and Champions League titles under Jurgen Klopp.

The move comes during a period of significant transition at Brentford. Club captain Christian Norgaard recently departed for Arsenal, while head coach Thomas Frank left to take charge at Tottenham. New manager Keith Andrews now inherits a squad that has seen several experienced figures exit, including goalkeeper Mark Flekken and defender Ben Mee.

Brentford believe Henderson is the ideal figure to fill that leadership vacuum and bring stability to a relatively young squad.

While players such as Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen, and Ethan Pinnock provide continuity, Henderson is expected to raise the standards within the group and serve as a cultural cornerstone under the new regime.
