Kaizer Chiefs said to be front runners in race for Tshegofatso Mabasa signature
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly emerged as frontrunners to sign Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

Amakhosi's recent dip in front of goal has cast a shadow over an otherwise solid league campaign, with the Soweto giants managing just one goal in their last three matches.
That lean spell was further exposed in their 2-0 defeat to Free State Stars at Toyota Stadium, where Tebogo Potsane and Siphesihle Jeza struck to end Chiefs' seven-game unbeaten run.
Despite the setback, Chiefs remain third on the table with 47 points, still holding a five-point cushion over AmaZulu FC in the race for a coveted top-three finish and continental qualification.
However, Kaze's decision to bench leading scorer Flavio Silva in back-to-back matches has raised eyebrows, particularly with the forward boasting nine goals this season. In his place, Lilepo has been tasked with leading the line - a move the coach insists is driven by tactical flexibility rather than form concerns.
"Lilepo is a versatile player. He can play as a No. 9 and as a winger, depending on the game plan and the opponent," Kaze said.
"It's good to have a variety of players as well; it gives you more options."
Lilepo's adaptability has become central to Chiefs' attacking setup, especially as they look to rediscover their scoring touch before a high-stakes clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
With several days to regroup following the draw against Orlando Pirates and the loss to Siwelele, the Amakhosi technical team will be hoping their tactical tweaks yield results when they travel to Loftus Versfeld on 6 May.
For Kaze, the challenge is clear - turn versatility into productivity before their season ambitions begin to slip.
