Hunt was recently named head coach of the newly promoted club with Middendorp joining in a development and scouting role following his exit from relegated Cape Town Spurs.
He was recently spotted on a reported scouting mission, in Malawi on Sunday as Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Silver Strikers 4-3 on penalties to win the Airtel Top 8 title.
Middendorp previously coached the club, when they were still operating as Maritzburg City, but he won't be directly involved with the first team, explained Hunt.
The head coach told iDiski Times: "They told me Ernst would handle youth structures and help identify players.
"And he's said, he doesn't want to get involved with the Saturday results. He would like to do Monday to Friday: set up the youth development, the Diski side, set up the coaching structures, we need a proper training ground, and he will do that for us.
"And he'll help look for players. He's got a good network of people he knows, and that's important."
Hunt emphasised that he expects the pair to work well together. "We're both older and experienced, and we will get along just fine," he said.
