Betway Premiership returns with high-stakes Friday night showdowns
With the opening round of the Nedbank Cup concluded, the Betway Premiership is set to resume with two mouthwatering fixtures on Friday night.

City decided to part ways with the former Chippa United coach after just three games, including victory in their Nedbank Cup last 32 tie, alongside one win and one loss in the Betway Premiership.
The club reasoned that it would take too long to "fully embed coach Badela's modern footballing philosophy" that "was not compatible with the immediate pressures of the current season".
Durban currently find themselves in sixth place on the Betway Premiership standings, after a solid start to their campaign under former head coach Gavin Hunt, who has since joined Stellenbosch.
Badela's appointment coincided with the return of Ernst Middendorp as technical director at the club.
Middendorp has, however, now ruled himself out of the job, saying on LinkedIn: "I was not connected to Durban City FC at the time the club released Gavin Hunt at the end of November 2025; I left the club at the end of September 2025.
"Officially, I joined Durban City FC on 15 December 2025 in the role of technical director again. I have no interest in, nor have I pursued, the position of Head Coach at Durban City FC.
"There has never been any intention or scenario in which I would follow Themba Badela in the Head Coach role.
"Throughout my tenure, I have fully supported the head coach, both professionally and structurally, in line with my mandate as technical director and in the best interests of the club."
