'Every game is a final for us', Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango

The Brazilians have been on top of the league standings from the very first weeks of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership campaign but still have Orlando Pirates breathing down their necks.

The Buccaneers in third have nine less points than Onyango's team but with two games in hand.

And with Sundowns preparing for an appearance in the CAF Champions League final in just three weeks, the shot stopper insists they get their title wrapped up to be able to fully focus on Egyptian opponents Pyramids FC, on the 24th May.

Sundowns are next in action at home to Richards Bay on Wednesday.

Onyang said in the Citizen: "We take every game as it comes and right now we are focusing on the Betway Premiership.

"We must lift that trophy. When it is time for the Champions League (final) we will shift focus. But every game is a final for us and we hope we can win all our remaining games.

"It will be a very difficult game (against Richards Bay), especially after playing in the Champions League and coming back (from Cairo).

"They are a hard running team and fighting for their lives, but we have the quality and must stay focused and get the results."

Richards Bay will be no walkovers as they fight for their top-flight survival in in 13th place with 26 points from 24 games, just three clear of both SuperSport United and Cape Town City.
