Former Mamelodi Sundowns prospect Mailula leaves Toronto FC

Former Mamelodi Sundowns prospect Mailula leaves Toronto FC

The 25-year-old joined the Canadian side in 2023 after an impressive first season in the top-flight division, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists before moving to the MLS.

He made three appearances for Toronto before going on loan to Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club, who he featured for at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Mailula was then sent on a third loan at Belgian Challenger Pro League side KV Kortrijk, where he only played in three matches without scoring a goal.

In total, the diminutive striker made five appearances for Toronto, in between loans, and will be looking to revive his career with his next move and hopefully get back into the Bafana Bafana setup and add to his two previous caps.

He was previously linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and a move back to the PSL may not be ruled out.
