Gavi targets full-throttle Barcelona return in 2026 after knee surgery setback

The Spain international underwent further knee surgery in September and was ruled out for around five months, a major blow for both the player and Barcelona. His rehabilitation has continued steadily, and the current expectation remains that he could be available again around February or March if his recovery stays on schedule.

Gavi has said he is pleased with how things are progressing and remains focused on hitting every target set by the medical staff.

"I'm doing very well, I'm following the agreed deadlines and I hope to continue like this," Gavi said in an interview with Sport. "I miss the ball a lot, being with the ball and playing with your teammates."

He has also reflected on the wider picture at Barcelona during his time out, stressing that he remains positive despite the frustration of being sidelined.

"The injury has passed, but it's football, it's life. You have to work to recover," he said. "I'm happy for this year because we've won three very important titles, and I'm sure I'll be the same as always."

Gavi has been clear that he will not rush his comeback and believes supporters will see him back at his best when he does return.

"People will be able to see the Gavi they are waiting for," he said. "I have that in my head and I have the mentality, which makes me strong to achieve it."

"I don't know when I'll come back from injury, but when I do it will be one hundred percent."

Barcelona have continued to manage his recovery carefully, and Gavi's confidence and determination will be encouraging signs for supporters as they wait to see him back in action.
