Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago set for epic showdown in Unity Cup

Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago will battle for glory in what promises to be a festival of skill, pride, and passion.

Dubbed "The Best in the West - The Afro Classico Contest," the tournament will showcase high-stakes clashes between football powerhouses, reigniting historic rivalries and uniting fans from two continents.

AfroSport CEO Rotimi Pedro spoke on the importance of reviving the event and says fans of African and Caribbean football will experience international football at the highest level.

"The Unity Cup is back! It has been a long road to revive this important community event, and we are happy that fans of African and Caribbean football will get to experience international football of the highest caliber," Pedro was quoted by Ghanasoccernet.com.

The action begins on Tuesday, May 27, with a historic first: Jamaica takes on Trinidad & Tobago in the highly anticipated "TriniJam Derby," marking their first-ever meeting on UK soil. The following day, on May 28, West African giants Ghana and Nigeria will go head-to-head, adding another fiery chapter to their long-standing football rivalry.

The competition will reach its climax on Saturday, May 31, with a third-place playoff before the ultimate showdown - the Unity Cup 2025 Final, where the champions will be crowned.

Nigeria, a two-time Unity Cup winner, comes into the tournament as the favorite based on FIFA rankings and recent form.

However, Ghana, eager to prove their dominance, will look to replicate their commanding 4-1 victory over the Super Eagles from their last meeting in London. Meanwhile, Jamaica will be out for revenge, determined to make a statement after a narrow loss in their previous tournament appearance.
