Sani Toro demands full support for Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle

Chelle, who took charge earlier this year, has come under fire after Nigeria dropped crucial points at home in a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.

With five games into the qualifiers and Nigeria sitting in an unconvincing position, fears are growing that the Super Eagles could miss out on a second consecutive FIFA World Cup.

But Toro, a respected football administrator who oversaw Nigeria's first-ever qualification to the 1994 World Cup, believes Chelle can still deliver - if he's given full backing.

"Let's not panic. Nigeria can still qualify. But we must support the coach and give him the freedom to do his job. He needs a free hand to select his team and implement his plans without interference," Toro told Sports247.ng.

He commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for tying Chelle's contract extension to qualification but warned against premature judgment.

"They've set the target. Let him work towards it. If he qualifies us, keep him. If he fails, then make a change. But until then, we must rally behind him," Toro added.

With fans already demanding drastic changes, Toro's message is a timely call for calm and unity.

"The focus now should be on winning games - not creating chaos. It's time for less pressure and more support."
