Junior Khanye picks Sundowns for league title, questions Orlando Pirates' depth

Speaking to iDiski TV, Khanye praised Sundowns for their consistency, quality, and continental pedigree, insisting that they remain untouchable in the domestic league.

"Number one is obvious - Mamelodi Sundowns. One of the best teams on the continent. The way they performed at the FIFA Club World Cup against top international sides says a lot about their level," said Khanye.

"Their balance between attack and defence is impressive. With Lucas Ribeiro staying and Iqraam Rayners proving me wrong, they simply have too much quality."

Despite being impressed by Orlando Pirates' pre-season form and recruitment, Khanye believes the Soweto giants still lack the depth and consistency needed to dethrone Sundowns.

"Pirates have good scouts and talented players. They've signed Sipho Mbule, which is a big move, but I'm concerned about their depth - especially on the bench. Also, the new coach needs to play to the players' strengths," he added.

"They'll likely do well in the first round but may drop off in the second half of the season, as we've seen before."

Khanye also sees Sekhukhune United as dark horses for a top-three finish, largely due to their smart signings and the tactical acumen of coach Eric Tinkler.

"Sekhukhune are my pick for third place. Tinkler is a hard-working and talented coach, and they've signed well," Khanye noted.

"I considered Stellenbosch, but they've lost key players again and haven't replaced them properly. It's a recurring issue."
