Kaizer Chiefs star Mduduzi Shabalala secures major endorsement deal after breakthrough season

Kaizer Chiefs star Mduduzi Shabalala secures major endorsement deal after breakthrough season

The 22-year-old, who enjoyed a standout 2025/26 campaign for Amakhosi, has officially joined the sportswear giant's football family and features in the launch campaign for the new PUMA ULTRA 7 football boots.

Shabalala's consistent performances for Chiefs, coupled with his Bafana Bafana debut in October 2025, have established him as one of South African football's brightest young talents.

His latest commercial partnership now sees him join an elite group of Premier Soccer League players representing the brand, including Teboho Mokoena, Themba Zwane, Iqraam Rayners, Bathusi Aubaas, Malibongwe Khoza, Patrick Maswanganyi, Thapelo Morena, Sailor Mudau and fellow Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi.

PUMA South Africa Marketing Director Tshepo Mashishi said the company believes Shabalala has the potential to become one of the country's leading footballers.

"Mdu's performances last season were impressive, and we believe that we are signing a player that will be at the forefront of South African football for many years to come, and who will drive on-pitch visibility of our ULTRA football boots," said Mashishi.

Shabalala expressed his excitement at joining the global brand, saying the partnership reflects his own ambitions as he continues to develop.

"My decision was based on how well PUMA's values, vision, and commitment to athletes align with my own goals and journey as a footballer. I push myself every day to improve, compete at the highest level, and make an impact on and off the pitch. I believe my ambition, work ethic, and passion for the game align perfectly with the brand," he said.

Looking ahead to the new campaign, Shabalala has set clear targets.

"I want to improve my consistency, contribute more goals and assists, and continue developing all aspects of my game to help the team succeed."

Meanwhile, Shabalala and his Chiefs teammates have returned to South Africa after completing their pre-season tour of Spain, where they concluded their preparations with a match against La Liga side Elche CF.

Amakhosi will now turn their attention to Sunday's Toyota Cup clash against Zimbabwean outfit Scottland FC in Rustenburg as they fine-tune preparations for the new season.
