Siphesihle Ndlovu confident Kaizer Chiefs are embracing Fernando Da Cruz's new philosophy

Amakhosi are currently holding their pre-season training camp in Spain, where Da Cruz has been implementing his ideas ahead of a crucial campaign that will also see the club compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

According to Ndlovu, the players have responded positively to the Portuguese mentor's methods and are improving with every training session.

"It has been a wonderful camp. We are very happy to be here to do some preparation for the new season. We are looking better and sharper each and every training session. We have a new coach with a new philosophy, and we are adapting well to his ideas," Ndlovu told the club's official website.

"We are all enthusiastic and very ambitious. This is a lovely environment, but we are not here on holiday; we are here to work, and we are putting in the effort on a daily basis. We are enjoying it, though."

Chiefs have already faced stern opposition during their European tour, drawing 1-1 with Scottish giants Rangers and Saudi Arabian side Al Kholood before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Spanish outfit Elche CF.

Despite the mixed results, Ndlovu feels the fixtures have been beneficial, giving the squad a chance to measure themselves against different styles of play while preparing for the challenges that await in domestic and continental competitions.

"These games are a good way to test yourself as to where you are at. They were different types of teams. Rangers were more physical while Al Khalood were more tactical," he explained.

"You want to play against teams like that because it's similar to what we are likely to face in the league and CAF Confederation Cup. We held our own and managed to score in both games, so those are positives we can take forward."

With the Betway Premiership season less than two weeks away, Chiefs will hope their intensive preparations in Spain lay the foundation for a strong start under Da Cruz.
