Kaizer Chiefs storm into Nedbank Cup quarter-finals with big win over Chippa

The win keeps Amakhosi on course to end their decade-long trophy drought, following the footsteps of their rivals Orlando Pirates, who also progressed with a win over Baroka FC.

Gaston Sirino opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing off a well-worked move initiated by Thabo Cele and assisted by Reeve Frosler.

Chiefs maintained control of the match, with their midfield trio of Cele, Samkelo Zwane, and Sirino dictating the tempo.

Chippa United, under the guidance of head coach Thabo September and assisted by the returning Morgan Mammila, fought back but struggled to break down a solid Chiefs defence.

Key player Andile Jali remained on the bench as the visitors failed to find a way past Bruce Bvuma, who made crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.

Inacio Miguel doubled Chiefs' lead from the penalty spot before Pule Mmodi sealed the victory with a late goal, ensuring Nasreddine Nabi’s side progressed comfortably.

Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart missed the match due to suspension, but his absence was barely felt as the Soweto giants delivered a commanding performance.
