Kenya Football Federation suspends goalkeeper Matasi amid match-fixing allegations

This comes after a video surfaced last week, allegedly showing Matasi discussing match-fixing with an unidentified individual.

In the footage, the Kenya international appears to agree to a deal aimed at manipulating the outcome of a match.

According to African Football News, the FKF is investigating claims that Matasi was involved in influencing the result of Kenya's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Cameroon on October 11, 2024.

The match ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Harambee Stars at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.

The FKF has confirmed it is working closely with FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

"FKF upholds the integrity of football and has launched an official investigation, in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities," the federation said in a statement.

"We reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy on match manipulation and are committed to safeguarding the credibility of our competitions."

Matasi, who has earned 31 caps for Kenya, has not featured in a match since the controversial encounter against Cameroon.
