Kieran Tierney feels 'lucky' to have played for Arsenal

The Scottish left-back joined the Gunners in 2019 from his boyhood club Celtic, going on to make 144 appearances in red and white.

A fan favourite throughout his time in north London, Tierney was known not only for his relentless work rate and defensive solidity but also for his strong connection with the supporters. That affection was evident during his final few weeks at the club, as he took part in a heartfelt lap of appreciation and said his goodbyes.

Tierney's crowning moment came in 2020, when he helped Arsenal lift the FA Cup under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, who was only months into his managerial tenure at the time. His performances that season cemented his place in the hearts of many fans.

His Arsenal journey came to a fitting close on the final day of the season, when he scored against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium. Serenaded by travelling supporters in the stands, it was a fitting send-off for a player who always gave his all.

With his contract now set to expire in the summer, Tierney will become a free agent.

"Just thank you for everything from day one. They supported us through the good times and the bad, and they supported me through some hard times as well," said Tierney, as quoted by the club's official website.

"I think that's what I'm most grateful for, the times where it wasn't so good or so easy for me is when they probably supported me most, so I'm just very grateful and I feel very lucky to have the support from them.

"I feel so lucky that I've played for this club and the love that the supporters have given me has been amazing. I've loved every day here and I've learned so much, I've improved so much and I just feel very lucky."
