Lee Langeveldt's Stellenbosch legacy set to continue beyond the pitch

But more significantly, the seasoned shot-stopper is being groomed for life after football, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his long-standing relationship with the club.

Langeveldt, who joined Stellies in 2017 after a spell with Golden Arrows, has become an integral part of the club's identity.

Though not always first choice in recent seasons - with Sage Stephens and Oscarine Masuluke often ahead in the pecking order - his influence has extended beyond the white lines.

The experienced Langeveldt is the last surviving member of the historic squad that secured Stellenbosch's promotion from the National First Division in the 2018/19 season. His 48 appearances and 20 clean sheets are only part of his contribution.

His leadership, mentorship, and commitment to the club's values have made him an invaluable figure during Stellenbosch's rise in South African football.

"Lee's legacy is not only what he has done on the pitch. His deep connection to the community and the club makes him an ideal candidate for a future off-field role," the club wrote in their statement.

The plan is already in motion, once Langeveldt hangs up his gloves, he will transition into a goalkeeper coaching role within the club's broader structure - including work with the reserve, youth, and ladies teams.

Stellenbosch's structured post-career vision is a testament to the club's holistic approach to player development.
