Malo Gusto: Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior doesn't deserve all the criticism

Early weeks hinted at tactical clarity and a strong squad character, yet results have been inconsistent.

The Blues began with promising performances, including a composed away victory at Atalanta and a remarkable comeback win against West Ham, overturning a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.

However, recent matches have seen Chelsea's momentum stall. A damaging 3-0 defeat to Everton preceded an 8-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain, followed by a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle, leaving the team with four consecutive losses and sliding down the league table.

Inside Stamford Bridge, patience remains. The squad appears committed to Rosenior's direction, with Malo Gusto emerging as a vocal supporter who has offered measured defence of the head coach. This contrasts sharply with the intensity of external scrutiny, which has heightened criticism around the club.

"I think he [Rosenior] is a top coach, I saw that a lot of people criticised him," Gusto told ESPN.

"Not really [understanding why he is being criticised so much] I have worked with him a lot since he joined Chelsea.

"I think he is a top person first of all, a top manager as well and as you say, he is young.

"He is a lot of things for the future, but if he is the Chelsea manager it is because he has the talent for this."

While Rosenior's tenure began with encouraging signs, the fluctuating results underscore the challenges ahead.
