Man Utd signed Jadon Sancho despite Pep Guardiola's warning in 2019
Pep Guardiola once warned about Jadon Sancho's mindset, but Manchester United pressed ahead with their pursuit of the winger, eventually signing him in 2021 for 73 million pounds.
The 21-year-old defender spent last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, where he gained valuable League Two experience.
Having impressed at that level, Bennett was widely expected to step up into a higher division this term to continue his development.
However, with no move materialising before the deadline, Bennett remains at Carrington under the watchful eye of United manager Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese coach, who has built a strong reputation for promoting young talent, could now integrate the centre-back into his senior squad plans.
Amorim has already demonstrated his faith in the club's emerging stars. Despite United's recent transfer activity, he handed academy product Tyler Fredricson places on the bench against both Arsenal and Fulham.
Other prospects such as Toby Collyer, Amad, Chido Obi and Harry Amass have also benefitted from the manager's willingness to trust youth.
For Bennett, the situation may prove a blessing in disguise. Instead of spending another season away from Old Trafford, he now has the opportunity to catch Amorim's eye in training and possibly earn a senior debut.
