Marco Reus backs Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller for MLS stardom

The attacking midfielder, set to leave following the Club World Cup in 2025, has yet to confirm his next step, but former teammate Marco Reus has thrown his weight behind a stateside move.

Reus, now shining for LA Galaxy, spoke highly of Muller after his side's 2-2 draw against Los Angeles FC. "I'd love to see him in MLS. It could happen, but who knows?" Reus told DPA.

The former Borussia Dortmund star revealed recent contact with Muller, though their conversation steered clear of football's future. "I just congratulated him on his incredible career in Munich. We didn't talk about him coming here," Reus said.

Muller's trophy-laden tenure at Bayern includes 12 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns, cementing his status as a club legend.

Reus, who faced Muller in many Bundesliga battles, praised his character and impact. "It's unreal what he's achieved with that laid-back vibe. He's always been the same guy," Reus said. "MLS would gain so much from a player like Thomas. He's got a great personality, always smiling."

With 20 German players already in MLS, Muller's experience and flair could elevate the league further. Reus added, "He's said he wants to keep playing. Hopefully, he's got plenty of offers. It's his call in the end."

Recent posts on X from Bayern Munich's official account confirmed Muller's exit post-Club World Cup, with the club calling him "a one-of-a-kind legend." Meanwhile, Muller himself posted a heartfelt message, saying, "Bayern will always be home, but I'm excited for what's next."

No MLS clubs have been directly linked yet, but Reus's endorsement has fueled fan excitement across the pond.

For now, Muller's future remains open, but the prospect of the World Cup winner lighting up MLS is a tantalizing one for football fans.
