Report: Jeremie Frimpong's Liverpool move nears as Arne Slot stays silent

The 24-year-old Dutch international, known for his explosive pace and attacking flair, is set to bolster the Reds' squad as they prepare to defend their Premier League title under manager Arne Slot.

Sources confirmed Frimpong underwent the initial part of his medical on Sunday, a significant step toward finalizing a transfer valued at approximately 35 million euros. The move comes as Liverpool seek a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Frimpong's versatility, he can play as a right-back or wing-back, makes him an ideal fit for Slot's tactical setup.

When pressed on Frimpong's potential arrival during a press conference ahead of Liverpool's clash with Brighton, Slot remained coy. "What do you think?" he said with a smile, sidestepping the question. "We all know the moment we announce something, that's when we talk about it. We haven't announced anything, so there's no need to discuss it now."

Frimpong, who played a key role in Leverkusen's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal triumphs last season, has long been admired by Liverpool. His record of 30 goals and 44 assists in 190 appearances for the German club highlights his attacking prowess, offering a different dimension compared to Alexander-Arnold's playmaking style.

Liverpool's transfer activity doesn't stop with Frimpong. The Reds have also initiated talks with Bournemouth for left-back Milos Kerkez and are in the race to sign Frimpong's Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz, signaling an ambitious summer rebuild.

For now, Frimpong's imminent arrival has Reds fans buzzing with excitement. His blend of speed, directness, and goal-scoring instinct promises to add a new edge to Liverpool's right flank as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Premier League and beyond.
