Miguel Cardoso: Winning at Mamelodi Sundowns is no easy job

The Brazilians, who have lifted the Betway Premiership title for a record eight consecutive seasons, enter the new campaign as overwhelming favourites.

Cardoso, however, says the hunger and determination within the squad remain as strong as ever as they prepare to face Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

"People think that because you win regularly or because you have good players who have lifted many trophies before, the job becomes easy," Cardoso told reporters this week.

"It's not exactly like that. I've been on both sides - it's tough to fight without resources, but it's also very tough to fight to win every single match. It's a mission I embrace with a sense of responsibility, one I must live up to every day."

The Portuguese tactician stressed that the defending champions are determined to maintain their winning standards in the new season.

"We're looking forward to winning again. We're excited about the new season, there's new energy, and only the strong character of the players will take us to victory," he said.

Sundowns will be aiming for a perfect start against the Chilli Boys as they look to extend their domestic dominance and set the tone for another title-winning campaign.
