Miguel Timm bids emotional farewell to Orlando Pirates as he begins new chapter at Sekhukhune United

He penned an emotional farewell to a club where he left an indelible mark on and off the pitch.

The 33-year-old, who spent three impactful seasons with the Buccaneers, was instrumental in the club's recent resurgence under Jose Riveiro. Timm helped Pirates lift both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup titles, cementing his place as a fan favourite.

His iconic performance in the 2022 MTN8 final - which earned him Man-of-the-Match honours - remains a standout moment in his Bucs legacy.

Despite his proven pedigree, Timm saw his game time dramatically reduced during the 2024/25 season, featuring only three times in a midfield stacked with the likes of Thalente Mbatha, Goodman Mosele, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, and new signing Simphiwe Selepe.

In a heartfelt social media message, the Durban-born midfielder thanked club chairman Irvin Khoza and the entire Pirates family.

"I have fulfilled my duties and what I was brought to the club to do - contribute to bringing back silverware and seeing the people happy like never before," Timm reflected.

"I tried to understand everyone and everything that is part of this big institution and embody what being a Buccaneer is."

He ended with a message to the fans: "A special mention to the best supporters! Thank you for allowing me to represent millions of you over the years. You will always have a special place in my heart. Once, Always."

Timm will now embark on the next chapter of his career at Sekhukhune United, where he reunites with ex-Pirates teammates Linda Mntambo and Thabang Monare - a new challenge, but the Buccaneer spirit remains firmly with him.

Meanwhile, Timm's ex-club Pirates began their pre-season tour in Spain by losing their friendly against England based outfit Bolton Wanderers 2-0 in Marbella on Friday.
