Monnapule Saleng excited to return home to Orbit College and help the team

The 27-year-old winger began his career with Orbit before signing for the Buccaneers in 2021.

In his first season with Pirates, Saleng was sent out on loan to Moroka Swallows but returned for the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

But a fallout with management means he hasn't played an official game since December 2023.

In total, the wide player made 70 appearances for the Soweto giants, scoring 25 goals and creating a further 17.

Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye discovered the talented Saleng, who says is relishing the chance to play for the club that made him.

Makhoye told Radio 2000: "He's excited, because he wants to also come. We cannot bring a player who doesn't want to be here, who is not going to help us.

"I talk to him every day, he's my son. He's excited to come back home, to come and help the team."

Makhoye added: "Even though it's a bigger club, the football is the same. He knows the team, he knows me and what I want. I know him, what he can offer.

"I'm the one who developed him, I'm the one who made sure he can play in all the four positions – he can play as a 10, right wing, left wing, even as a striker.

"Having him and with the type of football that we play, he fits like a glove. He knows the team, he's been here. Those who are coming from the outside will learn from him.

“We know he's bringing goals, because I know he likes to score goals. Even in his last season here, in the ABC Motsepe he scored 27 goals, so I'm happy.”
