Nigeria announces final squad for crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

The Super Eagles have named a strong squad ahead of the all-important fixtures against second placed Rwanda and Group C log leaders South Africa, who are currently five points ahead of Nigeria.

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen and wantaway Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman headline head coach Eric Chelle's squad with Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali also announced despite injury concerns.

Nigeria will face Amavubi (Rwanda) at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday 6 September, before travelling for a clash against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday 9 September in Bloemfontein.

Goalkeepers: Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), Amas Obasogie (Singida Blackstars), Adeleye Adebayo (Volos FC).

Defenders: William Ekong (Al-Kholood), Calvin Bassey (Fulham FC), Olaoluwa Aina (Nottingham Forest), Bright Osayi-Samuel (Birmingham City), Bruno Onyemaechi (Olympiakos), Chidozie Awaziem (Nantes FC), Felix Agu (Werder Bremen), Benjamin Fredericks (Dender FC).

Midfielders: Alex Iwobi (Fulham FC), Frank Onyeka (Brentford FC), Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas FC), Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (SS Lazio), Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge), Christantus Uche (Getafe CF).
