Olympiacos defender Bruno Onyemaechi keen to feature more for Nigeria

The 26-year-old was part of the Super Eagles team that recently defeated Rwanda 1-0 before drawing 1-1 against South Africa in their Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Onyemaechi was part of Nigeria's squad that was runners-up at the 2023 African Cup of Nations but did not make an appearance during the tournament.

"The most important thing for me is to get more game time," said the defender.

"Because if you don't play much (at club level), it's very difficult to be in the national team, and you always want to represent your country, so that's my focus."

He has only made one late substitute appearances for his Greek Super League 1 side this season and will need to get more minutes in order to feature for Nigeria at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Nigeria will take on Lesotho and Benin in their final World Cup qualifiers next month.
