Motsepe Foundation Championship champions Durban City to finally to lift trophy
Durban City's championship-winning season was supposed to end in celebration, but instead, it was overshadowed by uncertainty, frustration, and a protracted wait.
The Stallions are in just their second First Division campaign, having been promoted from the ABC Motsepe League in the 2022/23 campaign.
The retained their status last term with a 13th-placed finish and this time around are flying high in seventh from 23 matches.
With seven games of the current Championship to play, there is a real chance that Milford could end in the play-off places as they currently sit just six points off fourth place, with a game in hand.
Pupuma said in the Sowetan: "The first thing for us was to secure our status and I still think we need another three points just to be safe. Going to the play-offs would be a bonus for us because our target has always been to challenge in our third or fourth season.
"I still think we don't have a team to challenge for promotion yet, but if it happens, it'd be great, no problem."
Pupuma added: “Last season, we were just learning and getting used to how things are done in this division. Most of our players were amateur players before joining us, but now they've settled and are confident.”
