Real Madrid win Clasico and late dramas define La Liga Sunday roundup

Clasico Chaos: Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona

Real Madrid produced a vital statement win over Barcelona at the Bernabeu, ending a four-match winless streak in this fixture. Kylian Mbappe broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, finishing off a through ball from Jude Bellingham, and then Bellingham himself clinched the winner just before half time following a header back across goal from Eder Militao.

Barcelona had levelled in the 38th minute through Fermin Lopez, assisted by Marcus Rashford. But their joy was short-lived. Late in the game, Pedri was sent off for a second yellow, reducing Barcelona to ten men. Mbappe also missed a second-half penalty, denied by Wojciech Szczesny, who was crucial in keeping Barça in the game.

With the win, Real extend their lead at the top to five points and mark a ninth straight home league victory, their best such run in over a decade. Xabi Alonso becomes just the second Real manager in recent history to go unbeaten in his opening league outing versus Barcelona.

Intense Fight: Mallorca 1-1 Levante

Under heavy rain, RCD Mallorca threw everything at Levante to preserve their unbeaten home run (now W1, D3 at home). The visitors struck first when Etta Eyong capitalised on a pinball in the box, sliding past Leo Roman in the 22nd minute.

Mallorca responded with urgency, Vedat Muriqi nearly levelled before the break, and Sergi Darder had chances that flashed just over the bar. After the interval, the hosts piled on pressure, with Matthew Ryan forced into key saves.

They finally broke through in the 79th minute when Pablo Maffeo cut inside from the right and curled a superb shot into the top corner, assisted by Javi Mojica.

The draw leaves both teams on nine points. For Mallorca, the point keeps their unbeaten run at home alive; for Levante, it's a morale-boosting result amid inconsistent form.

Late Blitz: Osasuna 2-3 Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo recorded their first La Liga win of the season in dramatic fashion, thanks to a late Pablo Durán strike in the 87th minute, assisted by Iago Aspas. Celta had struck first in the 26th minute through Ferran Jutgla, but Osasuna fought back to take a 2–1 lead thanks to Ante Budimir, who converted a penalty in the 37th minute and then headed home from a corner in the 45th+1.

Celta responded after the break via Jutglà's second in the 69th minute. Then, after Budimir missed a second-half spot kick, his Panenka attempt smashed off the bar, the hosts paid the price.

Duran's composed finish over the keeper sealed all three points and leaves both teams close in the midtable mix.

Last-Gasp Heroics: Rayo Vallecano 1-0 Alaves

In a match heading for stalemate, Alemao rose in stoppage time to head home Pep Chavarria's delivery, giving Rayo a precious 1–0 win over Alaves in the 90th+1 minute. It ended a five-match winless streak at home in the league for Los Franjirrojos.

Earlier in the match, both sides spurned chances, Unai Lopez, Pedro Diaz, and Isi Palazon came close, while Antonio Sivera pulled off multiple saves for Alaves. But it was Rayo who struck in the dying moments, ensuring their third straight H2H victory over their visitors.
