Julian Brandt stamps out exit talk with Dortmund loyalty vow
Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt has firmly dismissed speculation about a potential summer departure, reaffirming his commitment to the Bundesliga giants.
With his current deal set to expire in June 2025, the winger's potential departure this summer is now a growing possibility, according to reports from Bild.
Bayern had been confident of securing Sane's signature on a new three-year contract, with terms reportedly agreed at 10 million euros per year plus up to 5 million euros in performance-based bonuses. However, the 29-year-old made a stunning late U-turn, switching agents to Pini Zahavi and returning with a bolder demand: a fixed salary of 12 million euros annually, complemented by 3 million euros in add-ons tied primarily to appearances.
The Bavarians have so far balked at these revised terms. "Bayern will not offer Leroy Sane a signing fee and will not improve the terms of the contract previously agreed," stated sources close to the club, as reported by Abendzeitung. If Sane and Zahavi hold firm, a parting of ways seems the most likely outcome.
Sane's camp remains open to extending his stay, with the player himself expressing a desire to continue at Bayern. "Leroy remains open to extending his contract and is still willing to accept a pay cut," said Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, citing a counteroffer from Sané's agents. Yet, Bayern's reluctance to budge suggests negotiations have hit a wall.
The winger's performances this season under Vincent Kompany have been among his best since joining Bayern in 2020, with 13 goals and five assists in all competitions. Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, had earlier signaled optimism about keeping Sane, saying in January, "We are planning to discuss a contract extension with Leroy Sane." However, the club's firm stance on financial terms could see them lose a key attacking asset.
Should talks collapse, Sane's next destination is already a topic of speculation. Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have been linked, with the player reportedly favoring a move to London. "Sane's preference is the Premier League, in particular London," noted Sky Sport's Kerry Hau, highlighting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea as "concrete options." A move to Saudi Arabia, however, has been ruled out.
Bayern, for their part, are preparing for all outcomes. "We are absolutely prepared for a Leroy Sane departure," said sporting director Christoph Freund, signaling the club's readiness to move on if no agreement is reached.
As the saga unfolds, Bayern fans are left wondering if Sane's electrifying pace and flair will remain at the Allianz Arena or light up a new stage come next season. With time running out, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether the German international stays or goes.
