Stellenbosch CEO welcomes trio ahead of CAF challenge

CEO Rob Benadie confirmed the arrivals of Shakeel April, Asekho Tiwani, and Wonderboy Makhubu, all set to bolster the squad ahead of Thursday's registration deadline.

"We are pleased to conclude the January transfer window by welcoming Shakeel, Wonderboy, and Asekho to the club," Benadie said in a statement on the official club website.

"These additions, alongside our earlier signings this month, strengthen crucial areas in our squad and will provide a significant boost as we push forward."

April arrives from Cape Town City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and is considered one of South Africa's brightest young talents.

He and Tiwani, who joins on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, were instrumental in the national team's triumph at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and impressed on the global stage at last year's FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Wonderboy Makhubu, signed permanently from Sekhukhune United, adds experience to Stellenbosch's attacking options. The forward has proven his goal-scoring prowess during a loan spell at Magesi FC, netting 15 goals in 38 league appearances over two-and-a-half seasons.

All three players have already reported for training ahead of Stellenbosch's CAF Confederation Cup clash against CR Belouizdad this weekend.

The club has also announced the departures of Thato Khiba, Sanele Barns, and Lesiba Nku, as Stellies continue to refine their squad in pursuit of success both domestically and on the continental stage.
