Sundowns' Nuno Santos explains his goalscoring heroics against Al Ahli

Santos was the hero for Sundowns, scoring twice with headers to help the Brazilians overcome the Asian champions 2-1 and book their place in the next stage of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

The Portuguese midfielder opened the scoring in the first half before restoring Sundowns' advantage with his second goal in the 80th minute.

Despite facing a strong Al Ahli side featuring several high-profile players, Santos insisted Sundowns approached the contest with belief in their own ability.

"We knew it was going to be a big game for us, but we also knew we are capable of (doing) everything, we have already proven that before, today is just another day and we keep going, we want more," Santos told SuperSport TV after the game.

The victory continued Sundowns' impressive run on the international stage, with the South African champions once again showing their ability to compete against opposition from outside Africa.

Santos also explained his attacking instincts and why he was able to find himself in the right positions to score both goals against Al Ahli.

"I like to be in those types of positions on the pitch," he added. "I'm a player that likes to play but also likes to score goals and whenever I get the chance to be there, I'm going to be there, (Saturday) today it was great that the ball arrived and I’m very happy about that."

Downs' next game is in the CAF Champions League where they will be looking to continue conquering the continent in the second qualifying round against Angolan based club Wiliete FC.
