Maseko joined Copenhagen from Mamelodi Sundowns after an impressive period that saw his profile rise significantly on the international stage.
The 22-year-old was handed his debut at the iconic Parken Stadium on Thursday when Copenhagen hosted Inter Turku in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifying tie.
Introduced as a late substitute, Maseko did not need much time to demonstrate what he can offer his new team. The Bafana Bafana attacker used his pace to get down the flank before delivering a cross that eventually resulted in an own goal.
Copenhagen went on to win 4-1 on the night and progressed with the same aggregate score, securing their place in the Conference League phase.
For Maseko, the appearance represented the beginning of what could be an important chapter in his career. Having spent the majority of his professional career in South Africa, the move to Denmark provides him with an opportunity to test himself against teams from across Europe.
"It was an amazing, wonderful feeling to play in front of the FC Copenhagen fans for the first time," Maseko told the club's media channels.
"It was incredible - almost felt like I was dreaming. I am thankful to all the guys for the warm reception and welcome to the club. They have been amazing, and we can only grow from here."
Maseko will also have several opportunities to gain European experience after Copenhagen were handed a challenging Conference League schedule.
They will face SC Braga, Lugano and Iberia 1999 at home, while their away fixtures include Crvena zvezda, Inter Escaldes and Universitatea Craiova.
His arrival in Europe comes after a breakthrough World Cup campaign with Bafana. Maseko scored the decisive goal against South Korea to help South Africa reach the knockout stages for the first time.
With his European adventure now underway, Maseko will be hoping his Parken debut is the beginning of a successful spell in Denmark.
Copenhagen, currently fifth in the Danish Superliga, host Sonderjyske on Monday.
