The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after parting ways with Marumo Gallants earlier this year. Mlambo had joined Gallants at the start of the 2024/25 season under head coach Dan Malesela.
However, both their stints were cut short, with Malesela exiting during the second round and Mlambo's contract also being terminated soon after.
Now, with Siwelele FC - the club that bought the status of SuperSport United - preparing for their debut season in the top flight, Mlambo is hoping to convince the technical team to offer him a deal.
A source close to the situation confirmed to FarPost that the midfielder is being assessed by the newly established team.
"Xola Mlambo is currently training with Siwelele. He's been without a club since leaving Gallants and is using this chance to prove he still has a lot to offer."
Mlambo has previously turned out for the likes of TS Galaxy, AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, and Chippa United. His standout years came during his time at Wits, where he played a pivotal role in their 2016/17 league title triumph.
