According to the Zimbabwe Herald, the sanctions were confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday after ZIFA reviewed reports submitted by match commissioners. The association said the suspensions were imposed in accordance with Article 22 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct.
Assistant referee Phikisani Ndlovu was among those sanctioned and will serve a six-match suspension in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, covering Matchdays 21 to 26. His punishment relates to the FC Platinum and Hunters FC clash played at Mandava Stadium on June 27, 2026.
In the Northern Region Soccer League, referee Chamunorwa Tapiwa received a six-match ban spanning Matchdays 17 to 22 following the Marere FC against Zambezi G & C FC fixture at Centenary Ground on June 21. Assistant referee Christian Gumbeze was also suspended for six matches after his role in the same encounter.
The Southern Region Soccer League also saw disciplinary action taken against referee Graduate Mubobo, who will miss six matches from Matchday 16 to Matchday 21 following a fixture played at Chinotimba Stadium on June 24.
Assistant referee Praise Mkwevo was handed an identical six-match suspension after his performance in the same Southern Region match.
ZIFA said the disciplinary action was taken after the officials were found to have made incorrect decisions that significantly influenced the outcomes of the respective matches.
"The sanctions relate to incorrect officiating decisions considered to have materially affected the outcomes of the respective matches, in breach of Article 22 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct," the association said in a statement.
The latest suspensions underline ZIFA's determination to uphold refereeing standards and accountability, with the governing body sending a strong message that match officials whose decisions compromise the integrity of competitions will face disciplinary action.
