Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou hails rising star Mbekezile Mbokazi

The 19-year-old defender put on a solid performance for the club as the Buccaneers managed to fight their way back into the game with an equaliser from Relebohile Mofokeng with the Europeans having scored six minutes into the match.

Speaking after the game, Ouaddou expressed his admiration for Mbokazi's maturity and potential, highlighting his growing role within the squad.

"Mbokazi is one of the big men of the team," Ouaddou told SuperSport TV.

"He's South African; he's proud of what he's doing, and we're proud of him. He had a really good game."

The coach went on to explain why the youngster was handed leadership responsibilities during the match.

"It's normal that we give him this captaining. Step by step, we want to give him more time because, of course, he will be one of the main men for this season," he continued.

"That's why we give him the responsibility, and he showed it magnificently. He did a great game. So, he needs to continue like that. He was fantastic."

Mbokazi's performance will no doubt boost his chances of featuring regularly in the upcoming campaign as Ouaddou continues to shape his squad.
