Owen Da Gama in the frame for Durban City top job

Da Gama joined Magesi in December with the team at the bottom of the Betway Premiership standings and guided them to a 13th-placed league finish.

But he parted ways with the club this week after failing to agree terms on a new contract ahead of the upcoming season.

Durban are on the lookout for an experienced top-flight campaigner having recently dispensed with Simo Dladla, despite his heroics in leading the club to the top-flight as champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

City chairman Farook Kadodia, however, revealed that they are yet to make a decision on the new head coach, with former SuperSport United mentor Gavin Hunt also reportedly a candidate for the post.

Kadodia told the Sowetan: "People are just making speculations, we have not finalised it yet, sorry.

"In a few days time, we will finalise it because Simo Dladla left on Thursday and we are in the process of looking at other coaches at the moment. So, it will take a few days."
