Report: Liverpool unleash mega bid for Alexander Isak as Florian Wirtz deal nears completion

The Reds have already flexed their financial muscle, signing Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen and Armin Pecsi to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Wirtz, a dazzling No. 10, is set to follow, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirming the 116 million pounds deal is finalized. "Wirtz's medical is scheduled within 48 hours, and he'll be unveiled as Liverpool's record signing," Romano said on X, adding that Wirtz's wages will be around 200,000 pounds weekly, aligning with the club's salary framework.

Left-back Milos Kerkez is also expected to join soon, cementing Liverpool as Europe's biggest spenders this summer.

But their ambition doesn't end there. With Darwin Nunez's departure looming, linked to Saudi Pro League clubs and European sides like AC Milan, Liverpool are hunting a top-tier striker to spearhead Arne Slot's attack.

Isak, the 25-year-old Swede, tops their list, and reports suggest they are ready to table a 100 million pounds bid plus add-ons, potentially surpassing the Wirtz fee. "Liverpool are all-in on Isak, seeing him as the perfect fit," journalist David Ornstein said on X, highlighting the club's determination to secure the Newcastle star.

Newcastle, no longer pressed by financial fair play concerns, have dug in, with manager Eddie Howe recently stating on X, "Isak is our cornerstone, and we're building around him."

Despite this, Liverpool's resolve remains firm, especially if Nunez's exit, ideally to Saudi Arabia for a hefty portion of the 64 million pounds they paid in 2022, frees up funds. "The Saudi interest in Nunez is real, and Liverpool are pushing for a permanent deal," a source told The Athletic.

While names like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Benjamin Sesko have been mentioned, Isak's proven Premier League quality makes him the prime target. Former Reds captain Phil Thompson backed the move on X, saying, "Isak's movement and finishing would take Liverpool's attack to another level."

As Wirtz and Kerkez prepare to don the red shirt, Liverpool's audacious pursuit of Isak underscores their intent to dominate the Premier League and beyond. Whether Newcastle budge remains the million-pound question, but the Reds are pulling out all the stops.
