Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer insists big money available to spend

The club's attacking trio of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise cost a combined 218 million euros, with Kane delivering the Bundesliga Golden Boot in each of his first three seasons at Bayern Munich.

Olise was named Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2025/26, while Díaz accumulated more than 4,500 minutes with virtually no recognised backup in the squad. Despite these individual returns, fans are understood to be dissatisfied with the broader outcomes.

Former Bayern Munich figure Uli Hoeness is reportedly unhappy with the shift towards expensive international recruitment, whereas president Herbert Hainer and sporting director Max Eberl appear less concerned about the evolving financial realities of the game.

"Of course, FC Bayern are still able to invest big sums," Hainer told Sport Bild.

"But as always, we won't do anything crazy - and we certainly won't go along with what some agents might imagine."

The club has increasingly targeted elite talent from outside Germany, while many top domestic-based players have been sold abroad for larger fees, predominantly to the Premier League. This trend has coincided with a perceived decline in performances from the Germany national football team.

Over the last three years, Yann Sommer and Hiroki Ito are the only players Bayern Munich have signed via transfers from other Bundesliga clubs.

It has now been a decade since Borussia Dortmund last sold a player directly to Bayern Munich, with Mats Hummels the most recent example, while Niklas Sule and Raphael Guerreiro later arrived on free transfers.
