Chippa United sweating on injury to Andile Jali

The 34-year-old midfielder signed for the Chilli Boys this season after finding himself without a club following his Moroka Swallows exit in January 2024.

The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns player was off the mark with his side's only goal in their opening Betway Premiership 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, before being withdrawn with an injury.

Chippa boss Kwanele Kopo revealed that he substituted Jali at half time for Xolano Sithole as the player was suffering from a hamstring issue.

Kopo told SuperSport: "Andile had a problem with his hamstring.

"It was really a gamble to start him. He hasn't trained for three days this week.

"But we needed someone of his character, of his experience and technical ability.

"And I think once we lost him at half-time, the adjustment to create the block, we completely lost it."

Chippa are next in action against Richards Bay at home this weekend.
