The 27-year-old playmaker fractured his collarbone during the Red Devils' tournament opener against Inter Miami in the United States, lasting just 14 minutes before being forced off, Foot Africa reported.
His absence was felt as Jose Riveiro's side went on to lose 2-0 to Palmeiras and later shared the spoils in a thrilling 4-4 draw with FC Porto.
After weeks of rehabilitation, Ashour has now been cleared to resume full training. However, Riveiro is reportedly cautious about rushing the Egyptian international back into competitive action, with a decision on his inclusion in the matchday squad expected soon.
Ashour's return is a huge boost for Al Ahly, who rely heavily on his creativity in midfield. Last season, he delivered an impressive 19 goals and nine assists in 40 appearances across all competitions, performances that drew transfer interest from several Gulf clubs.
But the Cairo giants quickly shut down speculation, insisting that their talisman - under contract until June 2028 - remains untouchable.
Meanwhile, Ahly have made a mixed start to their Egyptian Premier League title defence. After being held to a 2-2 draw by Modern Sport FC in their opening fixture, the record 12-time African champions bounced back with a commanding 4-1 win over Pharco FC.
Riveiro's men, currently fourth on the table with four points, will look to build momentum when they travel to El Mahalla Stadium to face Ghazl Al Mahalla on Monday, 25 August.
With Ashour's comeback on the horizon, the Red Devils will be hoping their midfield maestro can help propel them back to the summit.
