He insisted on Monday that he is not in advanced talks with the Cairo giants.
Egyptian media outlets had suggested the 25-year-old was a prime target as Ahly seek to bolster an attack that has misfired since the summer departure of Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali.
Ahly's attempts to replace Abou Ali have so far fallen short, with Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar and off-season arrival Mohamed Sherif unable to replicate his influence.
The club, currently second in the Egyptian Premier League on 23 points, sit six behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, who have played a match more. Their search for a reliable goalscorer has therefore intensified as the January window approaches.
Diabate's profile has understandably attracted attention. A product of ASEC Mimosas' renowned academy, he moved to Spain in 2018 to join Mallorca's B team before loan spells with the reserve sides of Sevilla and Atlético Madrid.
He switched to Sweden in 2023 with Vasteras SK, scoring three goals in 24 matches, and signed for GAIS in January 2025.
This year he has been in prolific form, netting 19 goals and providing five assists in 32 appearances for GAIS. His contract with the Swedish club runs until December 2028, further strengthening his stance as he dismissed the transfer speculation.
"Ahly negotiations? I can't say anything now because all reports about my move are rumours," he told Swedish media.
"There is no agreement, and actually there are no talks. There is very little truth in the matter."
