Kaizer Motaung Jr. excited to unleash new Kaizer Chiefs signings

Amakhosi announced the new additions this week, with Ighodaro joining the club after his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns, while Velebayi and Baartman signed from relegated Cape Town Spurs.

The club have also started the new Betway Premiership season with three wins from their opening three games, to create a positive enviroment for the campaign ahead.

Motaung Jr spoke to SuperSport after the 1-0 league win over Richards Bay on Tuesday.

He said: "It's all about the specific players we need for how we want to play.

"We're very excited and we always had a clear strategy about getting the best young talent. We're just very pleased to welcome them – obviously there are a few administrative issues still to happen.

"But we're very excited, especially also in bringing Ighodaro upfront. We know the young talent with Baartman and Velebayi, we're excited to unleash them to the fans, but at the same time they will need some time to understand who we are.

"This process hasn't been easy. Again, the squad is picking but we're still very much work in progress."

Chiefs are next in action against Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday, 27 August 2025.
