Report: Juventus target Man City's Bernardo Silva for 2026
Juventus are preparing a potential move for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva in 2026, with the Portuguese star's contract situation attracting interest across Europe.
The 18-year-old winger completed his move from River Plate in mid-August after celebrating his birthday, with Madrid paying around 63 million euros to finalise the deal. Mastantuono had been a standout for River Plate, featuring in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup before making the switch to Spain.
Liverpool were one of the clubs pushing hardest for his signature. The Premier League champions, who spent over 446 million pounds this summer on players such as Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, made a late approach but were unable to convince the Argentine to move to Anfield.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were also in the race, but once Madrid entered the picture, Mastantuono's mind was made up.
River Plate icon and current sporting director Enzo Francescoli confirmed that the teenager's heart was set on the Santiago Bernabeu. Speaking to AS, he said:
"When Real Madrid came on the scene, Franco ruled out everything else. He was always clear about his choice, and I think he made the right decision.
"This is where he belongs; he's a special player for a special club."
Xabi Alonso has already handed Mastantuono two starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga this season, using him on the right wing. The Madrid manager has been impressed by the youngster's maturity and versatility, with Francescoli backing him to thrive in Europe.
"He just turned 18, but he acts on the pitch like someone much older. His technique, intelligence and personality make him unlike any other," Francescoli said.
Real Madrid supporters have quickly warmed to Mastantuono, who has been tipped as one of the most exciting South American prospects of his generation. With Alonso eager to integrate youth into his side, Mastantuono could play a key role in Madrid's push for La Liga and the Champions League this season.
