Luca Zidane gets first Algeria call up for crucial World Cup qualifiers

The son of legendary France star Zinedine Zidane recently had his request to switch his international allegiance to Algeria granted by FIFA last month, despite having previously represented the French youth teams.

Algeria currently sits top of Group G of the African qualifiers and are just one win away from booking a place at the World Cup in North and Central America next year.

Another of Zizou's sons, Elyaz is currently doing duty for France at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, but new rules would allow for him to also play for Algeria if he doesn't represent the French senior national team.

The Desert Foxes will face Somalia next Thursday at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Algeria before hosting Uganda at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium four days later.
