Report: Liverpool launch bid for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi
Liverpool have initiated discussions with Crystal Palace to secure the signature of England defender Marc Guehi, aiming to bolster their defensive ranks for the 2025-26 season.
The Reds negotiated a fee of 40 million pounds, down from Bournemouth's initial 45-million-pound valuation, thanks to sporting director Richard Hughes leveraging his past ties with the Cherries.
The 21-year-old, who attracted interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City, emerged as Liverpool's prime target to provide long-term competition for Andy Robertson.
In his first interview with the club's official website, Kerkez took a subtle swipe at rivals Manchester United, declaring Liverpool "the biggest club in England."
"I'm thrilled to join one of the world's elite clubs," Kerkez said.
"It's a privilege to play for Liverpool, and I can't wait to pull on the training kit, get to work, and hear the Anfield roar. I'll give everything to win trophies and hopefully score at Anfield."
Kerkez becomes Liverpool's fifth signing of the summer, following goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, right-back Jeremie Frimpong, midfielder Armin Pecsi, and record-breaking 100-million-pound acquisition Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Wirtz deal, potentially rising to 116 million pounds with add-ons, smashed Liverpool's transfer record.
The Reds' full-back overhaul is complete with Kerkez and Frimpong, but questions linger over Andy Robertson's future. Sources reveal that Atletico Madrid have initiated surprise talks for the Scotland captain, while Kostas Tsimikas, initially expected to depart, may stay as depth.
Liverpool's pursuit of Kerkez, tracked for over a year, was confirmed by transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher on June 5, noting the deal includes an option for a sixth year. Sources also told media sources on June 4 that Liverpool were impressed by Kerkez's Premier League displays.
Attention now shifts to reinforcing other areas. Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi remains a top target for the centre-back role, with X reports on June 21 that personal terms are close to being agreed.
Up front, Liverpool are exploring options to replace Darwin Nunez. Italian reports suggest a potential swap deal with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, while Newcastle's Alexander Isak and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike are also under consideration, per recent updates.
A recent X post from Liverpool's official account confirmed Kerkez's arrival, stating: "We're delighted to welcome Milos Kerkez to the Reds! Ready to make his mark at Anfield."
Manager Arne Slot also praised the signing, saying in a club statement: "Milos brings energy, quality, and ambition. He's a perfect fit for our vision."
With their squad taking shape, Liverpool are poised for a fierce title defense, blending youth and experience in a revitalized lineup.
