Nasreddine Nabi: Mamelodi Sundowns were saved by Ronwen Williams

Chiefs produced a determined display at home and, according to Nabi, edged the contest - particularly in the second half where they forced Sundowns onto the back foot.

"It was a very good game of football from both sides," Nabi told the media after the game.

"But honestly, we should have taken all three points. In the second half we pressed higher, we got on the front foot, and we created situations that could have won us the game. Unfortunately, our finishing let us down."

The returning coach, who was back on the touchline after missing the first three games of the season due to his wife's serious domestic accident, felt Chiefs' dominance was undone only by poor decision-making in key areas and the brilliance of Sundowns' goalkeeper.

"There were scoring situations we should have handled differently," he admitted.

"But we must also acknowledge the quality of their goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, who made two very good saves that kept them in it."

Despite the missed opportunity, the Amakhosi coach drew positives from the fight his side showed against the champions.

"It was an intense 90 minutes with two strong teams. We couldn't give our fans the win they deserved, but this performance shows we are on the right track."

In their last four games, Amakhosi have managed to collect 10 points and they are second on the table.
