Liverpool and Newcastle set to battle for Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike
Liverpool are expected to rival Newcastle United for the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, as both clubs seek to bolster their attacking options.
The teenager made his first senior Benin national team appearance last month as a 66th-minute substitute in a narrow 1-0 international friendly loss against Morocco.
He has reportedly attracted interest from LaLiga's Sevilla, Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven and Bundesliga duo Eintracht Frankfurt and Red Bull Leipzig after impressing with Benin's under-20 side.
According to the Dailymail, the Croatian club are looking for a fee of around £4.75m for Aloko, and they believe his pace and power make him well suited to a Premier League move.
Aloko is set to become the second 18-year-old to be sold by the Zagreb based team, following the agreement to sell Croation midfield prospect Lovro Chelfi to Barcelona this summer.
The newly capped Benin youngster has been described as a very fast and powerful attacker who is difficult to stop when at full speed.
Aston Villa's qualification for the 2025/26 Europa League should give them the advantage to sign the teenager over fellow English side Brighton, who failed to qualify for next season's European competitions.
