The Reds, who have already transformed their squad this summer, see the French star as a potential game-changer, but prising him away from the European champions will be no small feat.
The Reds have spent 265 million pounds on six new signings, including Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, while raising 129 million pounds through player sales.
The imminent departure of Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal, confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, will add another 46 million pounds, plus add-ons, to their transfer kitty.
Romano said, "Al Hilal are close to getting Darwin Nunez deal done after verbal agreement in place with Liverpool. Club to club agreement is done, while Al Hilal are in talks with Darwin over personal terms."
Barcola, who racked up 21 goals and 21 assists in 64 appearances during PSG's treble-winning 2024/25 season, has caught Liverpool's attention with his blistering pace and versatility.
French outlet L'Equipe reported that Liverpool have "checked the name of Bradley Barcola to strengthen in attack," while Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed, "Liverpool Football Club set to proceed with a concrete offer to Paris Saint-Germain! Reds very determined to transform their interest into a bid during recent talks. Deal won't be under 100 million euros."
Fabrizio Romano labelled Barcola as Arne Slot's "dream target," but cautioned that a deal is far from straightforward. "PSG don't want to sell Barcola, they prepared a new huge contract offer for the end of the window," Romano said on his YouTube channel.
"The only way for Barcola to leave would be to say he wants to join Liverpool. It's not going to be easy because PSG see Barcola as one of the best players in the world."
As a secondary option, Liverpool are also pursuing Newcastle's Alexander Isak. The Reds had a 120-million-pound bid rejected last week, but sources indicate they are preparing a record-breaking offer exceeding 160 million pounds.
Newcastle, however, remain resolute, with Sky Sports reporting, "The Magpies would need to significantly soften their stance before Liverpool return to the table with a second offer for Isak."
Romano clarified, "It's not Barcola and Isak. If Newcastle open the doors, Liverpool will go for Isak. That deal is absolutely still alive."Should Liverpool secure Barcola, PSG could target Real Madrid's Rodrygo as a replacement, according to Romano, who noted, "If Liverpool go for Barcola, a name to watch for PSG would be Rodrygo from Real Madrid." However, Rodrygo's commitment to Real Madrid complicates any potential move.
Liverpool's transfer strategy also extends to their defence, with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi linked to bolster their backline following Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen. Club legend Alan Shearer advised, "Liverpool are yet to submit an improved bid for Isak, but resolving defensive issues is more important."
With the transfer window closing on September 1, Liverpool's pursuit of Barcola signals their intent to build a squad capable of dominating the Premier League.
Whether they can convince PSG and the young star to make the switch to Anfield remains the burning question for Reds fans.
